David and I both are very
involved in dog shows as our hobby.
I do the grooming, training and showing.
He does all the trip planning, loading and
setting up. We don’t breed often, but were honored in 1997 by receiving
The Golden Retriever Review’s “Breeder of the Year” award.
One of my biggest thrills was finishing
“Player” (BISS Grand Ch. Tempo’s U’ve Got What Gets Me, SDHF) completely
from the Bred-By-Exhibitor Class.
Since
1986 we’ve been active members in good standing of The Golden Retriever
Club of America and The Dallas-Fort Worth Metro Golden Retriever Club.
In l992, we were on the Show Committee that
hosted The GRCA National Specialty in Plano, TX.
David served as Treasurer of the National
and I was RSVP Chair.
David has also served on the Nominating
Committee and By-Laws Committee of
the GRCA.
We’ve both held offices
and been Board Members of our local club,
chaired several committees, and are the club’s representatives to the
Texas Combined Specialty Association.
As
much as I love showing dogs, and as rewarding as it is to put a
championship on a dog in honor of its quality, I get just as much
pleasure from hearing from owners of puppies we’ve placed in companion
homes telling us all about their new best friend and how much they are
loved.
It’s such a thrill to hear about obedience,
agility, tracking, and field training…and to hear that their 15-year-old
is alive and still going and still wagging that tail…well, that’s the
ultimate!
Happy tails for
all of you, and thanks for visiting!
